Company outside the EU

Recover the VAT you paid in France.

Trade fairs, conferences, restaurants, fuel: French VAT on your business expenses can be recovered, whatever your country. The claim must go through a representative accredited by the French tax authority: that is our role.

French company? Recover VAT paid in the EU →

You cannot file on your own. We file for you.

In France, a refund claim from a company outside the EU must be filed by a representative accredited by the tax authority. VATBAK files for you, through MS NISSA.

A 13th Directive claim in France is filed by a representative accredited by the DGFiP, never by the claimant. VATBAK claims are filed by MS NISSA, accredited under article 289 A of the CGI and acting as its clients' representative. That is what lets VATBAK handle this leg at all: most recovery platforms cannot.

Estimate your recoverable VAT

Enter your country and your gross spend in France for the last 12 months. The estimate applies French VAT rates and rules, expense by expense.

Determines recovery on vehicle rental and fuel.

Indicative only. Actual entitlement depends on invoice compliance and business purpose.

Good to know

One deadline a year

Your 2026 expenses can be claimed until 30 June 2027. After that date, the VAT is lost for good.

Three months earlier than for EU companies.

No reciprocity condition

France refunds companies from every non-EU country. Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland do not.

UK companies

Covered since 1 January 2021, like any company outside the EU.

On a first claim

The representation mandate and a certificate of VAT taxable status (or a trade register extract) covering the period.

How it works

01

Send your invoices

PDFs, scans or an export from your expense tool. Nothing to integrate.

02

We check every expense

Against French rules. Anything not recoverable in France, such as accommodation for your staff, is taken out, with the reason.

03

We file on your behalf

The claim is filed by MS NISSA, the accredited representative, and followed through to the tax authority's decision.

How much French VAT did you leave behind last year?

Send us a sample of last year's foreign invoices and we'll tell you what would have been recoverable, country by country — before you commit to anything.

Country deadlines tracked and flagged in advance. No sales sequence.
